eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection

I posted a thread once about this and it got locked for some reason. search my name and threads posted.

I used it. Pain in the ass. Makes you get within a certain time frame 2 independent diagnosis (one from dealer and one from 3rd party). Then they have a claims guy which you fax your info too and he does research on your claim. Then they approve it (if you, like myself, spent a bunch of other money trying to fix it, you don’t get that back nor the funds you spent on diagnosis). Then they send a tow truck out (you don’t have to be there) and you send title and then you get a check.

BTW mine was an engine issue that would shoot out oil of the exhaust. Drank 1/3 quart of oil each time. I bought the car for 15xxx. Cost of engine replacement according to Audi was 19k+ tax. Haha.

The lesson here is not to buy an old (or new) german car.

Is that based on any experience with VPP, or just eBay in general? VPP looks more like some sort of insurance than a strong-arm-the-seller solution.

Unfortunately, a new engine for this car would be 10x the repair cost, and more than I paid for the car. This is actually a pretty minor repair, but it’s very labor intensive.

Was eBay able to go after the seller in your case? I found your thread and saw that the VPP administrator didn’t take to kindly to the seller blowing smoke up his. I mean out the exhaust pipe.

Ha that is kinda true. I don’t learn my lesson. I have 2 other Audis and want another new one. My play car is an older s4. It has been to the shop continuously for like 5 weekends in a row. I never learn. But it’s oh so fast (moded).

I have no idea. They cancelled his account. I have no idea what happens if you sell a faulty car. Funny thing is that he claims no knowledge, yet owns a BMW performance shop.
