We needed to copy files from an older Windows XP PC that was being replaced to a new Windows 8 PC. I found this cable very easy to use. Just plug it in and let it install the app from the USB cable on each PC. Both PCs file systems were shown side by side in the app window. Then using the app on the target PC, you simply drag and drop the file(s) you want to copy.

Great reasonably priced transfer cable. It did the job very satisfactorily. The directions that came with the cable was simple to understand and follow. Definitely a time saver as far as transferring large number of files. I just got a new PC, and transferred all my files within 30 mins, with no errors. It is much easier with a transfer cable, than to copy files to an external HD, then pasting them to the new computer.

I bought this cable to transfer my files and settings to my new computer. The set-up was easy and within a couple of minutes I was looking at all the folders on both computers. All the info I read including the brief instructions, said the transfer would be automatic! It would transfer all files, list programs to reinstall, and provide links to other internet programs I had installed on my old computer. Great! But all I saw was every folder I had on both computers. And it stopped. After much searching, and climbing the chain of Microsoft support personell, and a subsequent link to yet another website, I found in the fine print at the back of the FAQ’s that if you are transferring fron a 32 bit system (windows XP) to a 64 bit system (my new windows 7), the auto transfer won’t work, and you will have to manually select which files to move, and hunt for what ever programs you want to reinstall – the 64 bit version of course! It would have been a lot less frustrating if I had known that up front, say an FYI on the product packaging or at least in the instruction FAQs. The manual transfer worked fine.

I recently upgraded to a new desktop tower. The old tower was still working, but I needed to move up to a faster computer with more memory. Once the new machine was set up, I plugged in the transfer cable to both computers and was transferring files within minutes. The cable comes with built-in software that displays both computers on one screen. You just select what files you want to transfer, select where you want to put them on the new machine, then transfer. You can even click and drag if you like doing it that way. I didn’t want to transfer all the files and this cable, with its software, made it easy to select only what I wanted on the new computer (the old computer will still be used, but in a lesser role). This cable worked great for my needs.

Quick and easy way to make major data transfers Posted by: Indigo from: on This transfer cable made transferring important files and programs from a failing tower to a new tower easy. It comes with it’s own self-loading program and the transfer process was fairly seamless. Very happy with this time-saving purchase!

Did the job! Posted by: amyinsjc from: on I purchased this to transfer my father’s files and settings from a Windows Vista to a Windows 7 computer. It did everything from quickly and easily transferring files, but also carried over all settings, including his desktop wallpaper. We were very pleased.

Works Great Posted by: atiwy from: on If you are upgrading from a Windows 7 machine to a Windows 10 machine, you will need one of these to do a data transfer. It worked flawlessly and did not take more than about 90 minutes.

This File Transfer was painless with the cable Posted by: handyhank53 from: on I never knew there was an easy way to transfer your files from your current or “old computer” to that of a new one, but it is much easier almost PAINLESS. I used a Universal File Transfer Cable with built in software made by a company named; Insignia and not only was it a piece of cake it was a lifesaver to me as well.

Made file transfer easy Posted by: TeacherProf from: Illinois on This cable was a huge help as I transferred files from my old to new computer. They were easy to use directions were clear. I especially liked that it didn’t just take everything. Instead, it allowed me to select what to transfer (good time to clean up some old, completely irrelevant files) and reorganize files.
