Typically, the transport broker is an expert in arranging for the transportation of goods on behalf of the owner, by subcontracting to the most suitable transport company and usually at preferential tariffs. The transport broker may accept to ensure that these goods are adequately insured whilst in the care of their subcontractors. If for some reason the appointed subcontractor fails to indemnify any loss / damage to these goods, this cover will protect the transport broker from claims brought against him by the owner of the goods.
